MikedeveloperA little more about me then..I'm an easy going kind of bloke from the Manchester area. I consider myself to have a great sense of humour and probably, the usual kinds of interests. I like listening to most genres of music wherever I happen to be, mostly dance, although nothing too hardcore. On the flip side, I have a moderate interest in Indie. I love the Smiths and Morrisey. See what I'm listening to here. I love DVD's, films, fast bikes, motorsport and motorsport events, which I try to get to as often as possible when not working. I also quite like digital photography, despite being no expert. I am impressed how this technology has really come on in recent years. Travelling has always interested me, which I've been fortunate to have done a little of over the years leading me to work for a short time in the USA. Naturally I love all aspects of technology - I am a geek - I suppose could be said. I also like the odd night out, usually spent propping up a variety of different bars in Manchester's northern quarter or on Deansgate and the Locks. I love lager, have a timeless fondness for draught Guiness and a liking for the the odd glass of Jack!. I naturally love to meet new people and am fairly outgoing in the 'right setting with the right crowd'. Most of my ramblings can be found on my blog, which you can subscribe to.

A few of my favourites quotes are...

'You always pass failure on the way to success.' Mickey Rooney (actor).

'When I was 5 years old, my mum always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I wrote down "happy". They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them, they didn't understand life!'.(Source unknown).

'Life is not measured by how many breathes you take but how many times it takes your breath'. Taken from a Black Knights Parachute Centre T-shirt.

'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive well preserved body; rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly worn out, covered in scars and screaming, yahoo what a ride!'. Quoted as a favourite by Bear Grylls (adventurer/explorer).

My solo, static line jump at Black KnightsI completed my doitforcharity.com Solo RAPS Static Line Parachute jump recently at the Black Knights parachute centre, Lancaster, who did a great job of training us!. Here are some pictures and video from the day, which was superb and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so I'm intending to jump again in the next few weeks and maybe persue the RAPS course, through progression jumps, maybe to freefall. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time and would love to take up the sport on a regular basis, obtaining the Cat 8 licence if my busy life allowed!.

I am now well on the way on a path to retraining, intending on a career change to Web Development. I have worked for years within the Social Care Sector for a Local Authority and have also had a brief stint as a Police Officer in Lancashire.

IphoneI.T seemed a fairly natural choice of career path after some thought as I've been around computers for years, although I'm not a great gamer I can have my moments. I do like the functional Social Network sites which clearly have a use to me. I have been online a number of years also, starting out with the old dial up which has helped me keep speed with the developing technologies used today on the internet, despite only having a fundamental knowledge of them. Actually finding out how things work and integrate interests me and as this is a dynamic industry, it should actually curb my thirst for learning and give me limited time to become bored or stale.
