A little more about me then..
Naturally I love all aspects of technology - I am a geek - I suppose could be said. I also like the odd night out
when prized away from my PC, usually spent propping up a variety of different
bars in Manchester's northern quarter or on Deansgate and the
Locks. I naturally love to meet new people and am fairly outgoing in the
'right setting with the right crowd'. I am now well on the way on a
path to retraining, focusing on a career change to Web Development through
certifications. I have worked for years within the
Social Care Sector for a Local Authority and have also had a brief stint as a
Police Officer in Lancashire. Most of my tech related ramblings can be found on
my Wordpress blog, which you can
subscribe to. I am also
quite active on the social media scene, love
technology and most kinds of gadgets.
I do like to get out and about and try new pursuits and
challenges. I think it's in our own interests sometimes to push our limits. I
initially completed my doitforcharity.com Solo RAPS Static Line
Parachute course & jump at the Black Knights parachute centre, Lancaster, who did a great
job of training us!. Here are some pictures and video from the day, which was superb and I thoroughly
enjoyed it. Sadly after completing my course and successive progression jumps,
I was unfortunate enough to break an ankle on an awkward landing after
obtaining first rung BPA status. The injury has kept me out of the sport for a
considerable length of time but I wouldn't say has totally deterred me from
continuing as my initial intention had been to solo freefall, certified. I
haven't returned to jumping yet but I wouldn't say I never would and enjoy
spectating on occasion. I also have a love for fast bikes. I would love to try
some new and exciting challenges in the future.
A few of
my favourites quotes are...
'You always pass failure on the way to
success.' Mickey Rooney
(actor).
'When I was 5 years old, my mum always told
me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school they asked me what
I wanted to be when I grew up, I wrote down "happy". They told me I didn't
understand the assignment and I told them, they didn't understand
life!'.(Source
unknown).
'Life is not measured by how many breathes
you take but how many times it takes your breath'.
Taken from a Black Knights Parachute Centre
T-shirt.
'Life should not be a journey to the grave
with the intention of arriving in an attractive well preserved body; rather to
skid in sideways, body thoroughly worn out, covered in scars and screaming,
yahoo what a ride!'. Quoted as a
favourite by Bear Grylls (adventurer/explorer).
