Arcade Game: Bloodrunner (Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows, Linux and Mac.)

Cross platform game: Bloodrunner for Android, IOS, Linux & Windows.

I have recently completed a work related MySQL course with a view to completing another certification. Interestingly, whilst on the course the instructor, Freelance Web Developer Gary Rigg, mentioned aside from the usual and varied web and mobile application work he does on a Freelance basis, he has developed a number of games including Ninja vs Aliens, Pabland and my personal favourite (and I get the impression his), Bloodrunner – an Arcade Game for Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows, Linux and Mac. Surprisingly, it’s not had that many downloads (within 50 – 100), which when you view and play the game is very surprising. Continue reading

New Android game: Retaliate…..

Retaliate, game for AndroidI got a tweet at the end of the week about Retaliate, an Android game and the maker wondered if I’d like to feature and review it here on my blog. I said I’d happily oblige and ultimately give an unbiased opinion, in addition to the fact I am not a gamer. This post in any case as a result will be short.

It’s a typical shoot-em-up and I kind of like that format and games that follow those simple kinds of idea as I remember them vividly from childhood. The game play overall is quite good, as is the graphics but the obvious downside is, there are ads. I know, blah!. You can alternatively, buy the game in the Play Store and be done with those pesky distractions. Why not help out the developer and spare some change!. Continue reading

Google Chromecast lands…

Google Chromecase lands.I’ve just ordered the long awaited Google Chromecast from Currys online. It’s also available at Amazon and the Play Store, despite earlier reports in the week, mostly by Currys, saying they weren’t selling it yet and it wasn’t on their store system. It’s the same price regardless of which retailer you choose and, it’s very reasonably priced at just £30 (much as quoted and expected). Of course I expect stocks to run out quickly given the long anticipated wait and the hoards who’ll descend on their local retailers today.

Now that the Chromecast is supporting more services with it’s SDK being out in the wild, I’m expecting a raft more services (and hacks) to be added in the coming weeks, more so now the UK market is finally flooded. Companies that are pledging future support include, Beats Music and Rdio so there’s more goodness to come!. Continue reading

JBL Charge Bluetooth Wireless Speaker…

JBL_speakerHaving read so much about Bluetooth wireless speakers and really wanting one for quite some time and naturally, looking around beforehand to compare the offerings, I finally took the plunge and opted for the JBL Charge Bluetooth Wireless Speaker from Amazon. The reviews of the JBL looked pretty good, so I chose this particular model after browsing and reading countless positive reviews. This is pretty much a quick review of the speaker and overall how I think it fairs having had it a fortnight or so.

In a word, I like it. It’s simple enough. It’s also quite small and about the same size as the average can of lager. A 3 hour charge and you’re off!. Most speakers from JBL ship partly charged I was told anyway in the reviews as mine was, so nothing stops you using it out of the box as I did. Personally, to get going I used it with Google Music and I. Continue reading

Early Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update

I’ve just reflashed my Samsung Galaxy S3 (I know I do this a lot!) and installed the early update of Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2.

This is i might add is an unofficial version, with the official version on general release at the end of the month but being inquisitive and rather eager to try it out and experience some of the new features (of the S4), I’ve got ahead of the game slightly and downloaded it to try it now. Some of these features are below. Continue reading
