My water damaged iPhone and the repair….

Water and iPhone don't mixA few weeks ago I commented on Twitter (which i have since left) and Facebook about how I was unfortunate enough to have my iPhone fully submerged in a swimming pool – long story but I was thrown in at a party during drunken antics!. I also read a similiar post of someone else as unfortunate. As a result, I thought the phone was lost. It was saturated after all and refused initially to switch on at all (I know I shouldn’t have attempted that straightaway) but hey you live and learn. Continue reading

Apple’s IOS 4.2 (4.2.1) software update….

Apple’s IOS 4.2 (4.2.1) software update….

It comes as no suprise Apple have finally updated the iPhone software to iOS4.2 as rumoured for their range but what is suprising, is the lack of improvements overall and peoples response to it. It’s been quite negative to say the least and the majority of consumers, from reading blogs and tweets, are feeling short changed and disappointed!. Android on the other hand, appears to be coming on leaps and bounds (even incorporating Flash support early on which I know is an ongoing issue with Apple), so it’s in Apple’s interests you’d think to develop (and keep users happy) at the same speed and maintain an argueable amount of competition for Android in this competitive market. VoCal – voice reminder app for the Iphone……

It’s no news I like to blog iPhone apps. I use some daily and as I’ve said in previous posts, I like some moreso than others, especially the useful ones and this is one good example!. I’ll use it anyway. It’s been thought up I would say to compete with the Android market. As to my knowledge, thus far, the iPhone doesn’t have some of the voice capability apps that Android does, suprisingly (Google voice for example). They’re coming though. Well, this is a start and a good one too!. Ok, it’s only a simple personal voice reminder app but I think more apps like this are to come and best of all, this one is free. And we like freebies and very little in life is after all. voCal lite is available at iTunes, available to download here.. Continue reading

The datamatrix and the iPhone……

Mikedeveloper's data matrixHaving tried out a few free apps in the past couple of weeks on my iphone and liking some, finding some even useful and thinking others just didn’t deserve the developement time, Apple have written a cool app!. The i-nigma barcode scanning application. It is now available free, from Appleā€™s App Store and iTunes Store (simply search for i-nigma in iTunes). iPhone & Android users can now decode QR, Data Matrix and Aztec Codes from one application with one click. Here is the iTunes store application description:

“Scan a Mobile barcode, Quick Response barcode or Data Matrix barcode by placing the handset’s camera 10 – 15 cm above the barcode. i-nigma will automatically detect and read the code when selected, and instantly present the code’s contents on-screen”. Continue reading
